How to add new satellites?

A few satellites are pre programmed in ZapMaster NG-S PVR (EuroSky STB 2007 PVR) e.g. Astra, Hotbird etc.

How can I add extra (new) satellites to it (e.g. Eurobird 9 and Thaicom 5)?
Can someone describe how to do (step by step). The users manual is only in German (so I can't read it...).

I will only receive one satellite at a time.

My dish is currently pointing towards Eurobird 9.

normaly you have just to change a name of an unused satellite to your satellite
(Menü > Einstellungen > LNB Konfiguration)

Thanx Ralf

But what settings (except the name) do I need to change to find all the channels on Eurobird 9 and Thaicom 5?

If I have understood it right there are two ways of finding new channels.
- to scan a (single) transponder or
- to scan a complete satellite.

I tried to change to Eurobird 2 and scan the complete satellite (incl. scrambled channels). But it failed and no new channels where found.

Then I tried to scan a transponder. I added the specific transponder freq. etc. It worked but I only got a few channels (of course).

Edit:
I can now watch Svt Europa (I got a subscription) but there is no EPG data. I guess that I have done something wrong... :(

I have now found out that Svt Europa doesn't transmit any EPG data.... :ugly: So it is nothing wrong with the box.

But I still understand what the settings for new satellites should be.

For example, for Astra 19.1:
- "Toneburst switch" set to A
- LOW band set to 9.750 (I guess MHz) but I don't guess that it is the transmitting freq. Is it the LNB output freq?

So what shall these settings be for Eurobird 9 and Thaicom 5?

9750 is the frequency of your LNB, it has nothing to do with the satellite itself.

the best way is like you did: search for the programs and their frequencies (+ polarity and symbolrate) you want to receive (f.i. www.kingofsat.net)
and make a search on the single transponders.

f.i. : 11747 Vertikal, Symbolrate 27500

I don't know your satellite konfiguration, so I can't know about the diseqc-adjustments, you have to do.

OK, I understand!

It seams that 9750 (9.75 MHz) is the more or less the "standard" in Europe.

But some satellites transmits at the C-band (e.g. Thaicom 5)
http://www.lyngsat.com/thai78.html
http://www.infosats.com/html/LNBF/cku.html

I plan to bring my STB to Thailand and receive Thaicom 5.

Does this mean that I have to edit "Antenna Configuration" to:
Antenna "30" Thaicom 5 (#30 used to be something else)
LOW band 5150 (5.15 MHz)
HIGH band xxxx (does not matter, is not used in C-band)
Tone burst switch - what is this???

http://svt.se/svt/jsp/Crosslink.jsp?d=41924
And then "channel search" to:
Freq. 3.640 MHz
Polarization Horizontal
Symbol Rate: 28.066

Is this correct? I guess it is not... :wall:

Hello

I am now in Thailand and tries to recieve Thaicom 5

The settings should be:
Freq. 3.640 MHz <------------------------- This is a problem
Polarization Horizontal
Symbol Rate: 28.066

I have a dish 1.8 meter with a C-band LNB.
But I can not perform a channel seasch.

Please help!

looks crazy , a input of 11.996GHz a local oscillator of 5.150GHz, it means you have a ZF of 6846Mhz ? can't be. a valide ZF for a sat_tuner is 950 - 2150 MHz. ( f_input - local_oscillator = Sat_ZF )
i am not a expert in C-band stuff, but i think, if your LO is correct, the frequency of 11..GHz must be wrong. did you know the using of "LowBand" & "HighBand" ? if not, you must know also this ->

(f_input - low_band) < 1950MHz -> ZF = f_input - low_band
(f_input - low_band) > 1950MHz -> ZF = f_input - high_band

Tanx for your answer Tibor!

I guess i am a newbe in this area.

I use this LNB
http://www.eldsat.com/product_info.php?products_id=57
and tries to recieve Svt Europe via Thiacom 5.

What shall the low band and high band settings be?

The freq of 11.. GHz is wrong! It should be 3.640 GHz.

I guess that the LO wrong freq is wrong.... But I do not know what the setting should be.

Can you help me  ?

Thanx in adwanse!

Calculating frequencies with C-Band LNB's are different from the Ku-Band LNB's.
The formula for the ZF is: ZF = LOF - Transponderfrequency (ZF = 5150 MHz - xxxx MHz)
So you get the complete ZF Band of 950Mhz to 1750 MHz with the Transponderfrequencies of 3,4 GHz to 4,2 GHz (3,4 GHz = ZF 1750 MHz // 4,2 GHz = ZF 950 MHz).
That's the theory. I have not a C-Band LNB, so that I can not check the parameters.
But I found one problem with the Zapmaster. You can set the LOF to 5150 MHz but in the channel search menu you can not set a transponder frequency lower than 10000 MHz.
So a solution can be, to set the LOF to 9750 and calculate the channel search frequency with this LOF. That means you must only add 9750 MHz to the ZF frequency (3640 MHz is ZF 1510 MHz and then + 9750 MHZ LOF = 11260 MHz).
I hope that my calculation was not wrong and you can find the channel.
Another way can be to seek a transponder by pressing the left or right button in the channel freqency row until the C/N value increased.

Thanx Schaub_01!!!

It worked! I set the freq to 9750 and 11260. Bingo!

I have not found any information in the users manual about this problem. But you solved it! Thanx again!!

That sounds very good - so my calculation was correct :D .

I think that the Zapmaster is designed for the european market, so that the c-band support is not absolute necessary. I have also seen many other satellite receivers without such a c-band support. Mostly blindscan receiver have such a special feature.

I wish you always a good satellite reception in Thailand !

I do agree that it is mainly a European product. But a note in the users manual would be good.

The reception is excellent!

And to have a box with HDD is perfect when it comes to handle the time difference between Sweden and Thailand (6 hours).

I am very satisfied! :D

PS
Before I bought the box I asked the dealer (Conrad) if it could handle C-band. The answer was "yes if you have a C-band LNB". Then I wrote some questions here at this support forum. I felt quite comfortable to bring the box to Thailand. It worked but not 100 % smooth. :shifty:

Many thanks for your information. We will add an explanation for C-Band reception to the user manual.

I would like to ask once more about Adding new satellites.

Well, it is possible to rename an existing satellite and use its "place" for some other one.
But - each satellite has its own predefined transponders. Some have 4 (Eutelsat W3A), some 10 (Hellas Sat), other e.g. 24 (Amos); at least in my DSR2T465Kombi. Their parameters are for non-original satellite almost unusable.
My question is:
Is it possible to edit the list of "predefined" transponders for a satellite?
